In preparation for the season of Lent, students participated in a Shrove Tuesday School Mass. During this Mass the students witnessed the burying of the Alleluia, burning of blessed palms, blessing of ashes, and blessing of rice bowls. Small packets of blessed ashes were sent home to each family along with a prayer service inviting the family to distribute ashes among its members.

Additionally, during Lent, South City Catholic Academy will be participating in the Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl Program. Father Craig, pastor at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and who has canonical oversite of SCCA, blessed our Rice Bowls before our children brought them home to begin collecting their families Lenten sacrifices.
