My name is Ms. Clarissa Emanuel, and I am ecstatic to be at South City Catholic Academy. I graduated from Saint Louis University with a degree in Philosophy and minors in Catholic Studies and Political Science. I grew up in Affton, attended St. Mark Catholic School, and Rosati-Kain for a unique all-girls high school experience. My interest in student-centered, transformative Catholic education bloomed during my time at SLU, though the seeds were planted much earlier. I hardly left my teachers and administrators alone as an elementary and high school student, consistently challenging them to think about the needs of my peers, cultivate existing academic and extracurricular programs, and to better focus on building community as a faculty.
This is both my first year teaching, and my first year at SCCA. I wake up every morning enthusiastic about the opportunity to learn from kindergartners who inexhaustibly continue to impress me with their curiosity, kindness, and simplicity. The cherry on top, though really the whole milkshake, is the colleagues who work tirelessly to educate young minds, strive to create a welcoming school culture, and genuinely want to learn from and with each other.
Outside of school, I take great joy in tennis and indoor cycling, leading a Bible study for young professional women, writing and creative projects, cheering on the SLU Billikens, traveling to visit friends, and staying engaged with the Delta Gamma Alumnae Association in St. Louis. Keep me and SCCA in your prayers!
